The Muppet Show

At the risk of outing myself as a Muppets Guy, I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to regard the oeuvre of The Muppets as one of the greatest artistic achievements of the last century (there’s actually no way to make that NOT sound hyperbolic). So the announcement and release of a new episode of The Muppet Show was a very welcome surprise, especially hearing that they were deploying the Muppets in their original and best form, as a cast and crew trying to put on a variety show. My expectations were tempered because the last few Muppets projects were just perfectly fine, but this delivered — fun, charming and they couldn’t have picked a better host in Sabrina Carpenter (who performs “Islands in the Stream” and “ Manchild ” and also banters with Miss Piggy who might be the funniest person* alive*).

And if you haven't seen the original run of the Muppet show, why not put it on — it's very comforting. I would recommend checking out the Vincent Price, Elton John, or Madeline Kahn episode.

Miso-Labneh Onion Dip

I saw the recipe for this dip in a New York Times article and knew I had to make it. If you already know how to caramelize onions it's a simple recipe and as we all know: no dish with caramelized onions can be bad. That is the law. I made it for a Super Bowl party and it was a perfectly medium hit. You can use any vessel to dip with but I recommend a classic, salty ruffled potato chip.

New York Vocal Collective - “Man I Need”

I can’t recall how I first stumbled upon this performance of Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” by New York Vocal Collective, but I think it was probably served to me by the almighty YouTube algorithm soon after the Grammys.

I’ve watched it no less than 20 times and it's pretty much guaranteed to brighten your day. Also on Spotify here. When I first saw this it was hovering around 2,000 views and now they have 400k+ views in a little over a month. It seems to have “broken containment” as the kids say and I wish these people a lot of hopefully-wanted attention.
